Not too long ago, you probably heard about @Comex's port of Android 2.2 (Froyo)'s Flash runtime browser plugin for the iPad, that quite honestly, wasn't good at all, but that's expected with pre-alpha software. In this article, I'm going to walk you through installing a newer build (0.02) of Frash that @atomicmufin compiled last night for the iPhone which I demoed above. Proceed with caution, as this could brick your device. Also, I have only tested this on the iPhone 4, but I have heard reports of it working on previous iPhones.
Hit the jump for the how-to.
How-To Install Frash on your iPhone 4 Manually.
- You must have a jailbroken iPhone 4. To do this go to JailbreakMe.com in Safari on your iPhone 4.
- Download the Frash 0.02 .deb from here.
- Install OpenSSH on your iPhone 4 from Cydia. It's a free download.
- SSH into your iPhone (PC/Mac) and go to /var/root/Media/.
- Create a folder called "Cydia" and then inside that create a folder called "AutoInstall".
- Place the .deb file you downloaded in step 2 in this folder.
- Disconnect from SSH.
- Reboot your device by pressing and holding both the lock button and home button until you see the Apple logo.
- Enjoy Frash! I recommend testing that it's working by going to homestarrunner.com.
Special Thanks to @AtomicMufin for creating the installable .deb and uploading it for us. Give him a follow!
